About Us

Founded in June 2020, Pelangi Nusantara (PN) is an LGBTQIA+ community group advocating for love, equality and dignified living for Indonesia’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Spread across the archipelago and around the world, Indonesia’s LGBTQIA+ community consists of individuals and groups with hopes and dreams of a safer and dignified future.

PN supports the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community in Indonesia, giving its voice heard and spreading awareness campaigns by educating about LGBTQIA+ identities, experiences, rights, while advocating for love and equality, challenging discrimination and misconceptions.

We also hope to rally society and governmental groups to ban Conversion Therapy in Indonesia. Conversion therapy torture is a prevalent practice that is still widely accept in Indonesia today. Despite societal prejudice and discrimination, we continue to seek a better outcome for our LGBTQIA+ family.

We stand to bring the injustice, prejudice and unfair treatment of the much-oppressed Indonesian LGBTQIA+ community to light. Stand up for what is right — stand with us today!

Mission

Our mission is to build a diverse and inclusive future for dignified living for Indonesia’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Vision

To be the driving force of the LGBTQIA+ community in Indonesia to a dignified living, free from discrimination and persecution.

Commitment to Safety

Safety is our priority for all Pelangi Nusantara members. While we fight for LGBTQIA+ equality and inclusion in Indonesia, we are committed to provide a safe space for our members to advocate for our cause while feeling protected and respected.

Since LGBTQIA+ advocacy is fundamentally about ensuring equal rights, dignity, and safety for people of all gender identities and sexual orientations, Pelangi Nusantara adopts an empathetic and inclusive approach, to educate without shame, be culturally sensitive, and foster growth through education, without judgement or exclusion.

Pelangi Nusantara do not engage in activities or generate content that threatens our members’ safety and well-being. At the same time, members should uphold respect for diverse perspectives, especially in a sensitive landscape where advocacy that is overreached or misapplied may undermine our credibility.
